Time station Vrhnika

Take a ride along the old railway tracks that connected Ljubljana and Vrhnika as recently as 60 years ago!

At the renovated Vrhnika – Trg (later Vrhnika Town) railway station, visitors can experience a virtual reality train ride that takes them through a series of different stations in time — from the earliest traces of human presence in prehistory to the construction of the first motorway section in Slovenia and the former Yugoslavia. Explore the exhibition on the history of transport in the Vrhnika area and test your newly acquired knowledge with an interactive quiz.

Discover the stationmaster’s office and learn about his work, where the original layout from the station’s operating days and museum artefacts transport you back to the early and mid-20th century.
